Dorothy Sylvester, Owner
Having enviable credits in dance, Dorothy has entertained audiences with some of the finest names of stage, television and film and has appeared with many celebrities. Her professional travels have taken her throughout the United States, to Canada and Europe. Her dedication, teamed with the excellent teaching staff, helps fulfill her goals of giving each student the personal and individual attention needed to achieve their full potential.

Karyn Fowler, Director

Karyn Fowler is the assistant director of Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited, adding the creative aspect to the studio. She began her dance career at age seven and has traveled extensively studying with top instructors in the country. Karyn will be managing the studio and handling all of the billing and office duties. If you have any questions, Karyn is the person to contact.


Kim Kirshenbaum, Assistant Director

Kim Kirshenbaum is also the assistant directors of Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited. Kim is the studio's graphic designer and works behind the scenes to maintain the studio's organization.


Lauren Blane (Ballet)  
Lauren began her training at the Faubourg Ballet Academy under Watmora Casey. She graduated with honors from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance Performance. In her senior year, she was chosen to receive The Outstanding Undergraduate Award in Dance. Her choreography was also featured in the American College Dance Festival gala. 
 
Lauren studied for a year as a scholarship student at the Lou Conte Dance Studio under Claire Bataille. She was also a featured dancer in the Marriott Theater’s production of SHOUT! She had the privilege of performing with Beyonce on Oprah’s Farewell Episode at the United Center. Lauren is currently in her second season with Giordano Dance Chicago’s Second Company.

Donna Johnson (Jazz, Tap , Team Class)

Donna Johnson has been teaching dance for the past twenty-five years. She is the Artistic Director of the "Steppin' Out" Dance company and her dancers are regional and national dance champions. Over the years, she has received numerous awards for her work in tap, jazz, lyrical and acro dance. Donna received the 2009 FDC Judges' Choice Award at Bravo Dance Competition. In 2010 she won the icon award for excellence in tap technique. One of her students won the 2005 Chicago Human Rhythm Project tap off, and some of her dance company alumni are now tapping professionally with Lane Alexander and Savion Glover. Her routines are always showstoppers and we love having Donna on our staff.


Ashley Lanham-Watson (Creative, Hip Hop, Intro, Tap, Team Class)

Ashley Lanham-Watson is a graduate of Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Ashley has been a part of Dorothy's Dancing Unlimited since she was 2 ½ years old. She has studied ballet, hip hop, jazz, lyrical, musical theater, modern, and tap with numerous instructors. In high school, Ashley was a member and choreographer of the Orchesis dance team and was also a captain for two of those years.

Ashley has also performed locally with Schaumburg on Stage and HOTT Productions in productions of Bye Bye Birdie, Grease, and 42nd Street. Ashley continued her dance training through college courses as well. For her final two years of college, she diversified her experience by joining a hip hop group, the Black Diamonds Dance Troupe. Ashley is very excited and looks forward to being a part of the studio once again and as a member of the staff.


Rebecca Ludwick (Ballet, Creative, Intro, Jazz, Pointe)

Rebecca Ludwick is a native of Chicago. From a very young age she knew that she wanted to be a dancer, and has pursued this with her whole heart. Living, breathing a dancer's life for the past 23 years, Rebecca started her training at Elk Grove Park District but quickly moved on to train at Faubourg School of Ballet in Hanover Park. Where she danced lead roles in Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Paquita, Giselle, La Bayadere and Le Corsaire. Upon graduating Rebecca has guested with Ballet Chicago, the Chicago Lyric Opera, Rasa Dance Chicago, Paul Christiano and Northwest Ballet Ensemble to name a few.

Some of Rebecca's favorite dance experiences have been performing with the Washington National Opera, and most recently the Kanye West Tour. Rebecca has been teaching in the suburbs of Chicago for the past decade. She has learned so much from her students and is very excited to be on staff at Dorthy's Dancing Unlimited this season, sharing her Love of dance with her new students!


Kelli Myhre-Bahwell (Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Team Class)

Dancing has been a part of Kelli's life since the early age of three and she has been teaching dance at various studios in the Chicagoland area for the past 21 years. Kelli received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dance from Illinois State University. She also has two Associate of Applied Science Degrees in Art, one from Elgin Community College and the other from The Illinois Institute of Art specializing in Graphic Design. She has been a performer and choreographer in numerous dance competitions and conventions and received many choreography awards. Being a teacher and choreographer has taken Kelli to many places including England and Guatemala where she was an international choreographer/teacher, hired to do master classes and be a cocreator for an entire concert. Teaching dance is her passion and dance is her life.


Pam Parchim (Acrobatics, Intro)

Pam Parchim began dancing and tumbling at the age of 5. She continued dancing with Galina's Dance Studio for 12 years and was a competitive tumbler, winning multiple 1st place awards in her age and level. She expanded her tumbling experience to gymnastics at the age of 12 and competed on her high school gymnastics team, qualifying for sectionals on the floor exercise in her senior year. She was also part of the Orchesis Dance Club and choreographed many dance and tumbling routines. Pam continued teaching ballet and tumbling classes for the YMCA during college and, upon graduating, became the non-competitive program coordinator for the Northbrook Gymnastics Training Center. She has worked as an assistant coach to the Maine West High School gymnastics team where she choreographed the varsity floor exercise and balance beam routines. She also choreographed and produced the Illinois Junior Miss Scholarship Program for two years. We are very excited that she is returning to the studio!

Pam continues to combine her dance and gymnastics experience to choreograph new and exciting routines for every recital.


Pavel Tabutov (Contemporary, Creative, Hip Hop, Jazz)

Pavel Tabutov began his training at Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Center under the supervision of Nan Giordano and John Lehrer. He mainly focused on jazz but realized how crucial ballet technique is to any dance style and began studying ballet with Betsy Herskind.

Since then, Pavel has been on scholarship with Joel Hall Dancers and Center, apprentice for RASA Dance Chicago, and continuing the development of his technique at Visceral Dance Center.
He has performed with Chicago Dance Crash for their 2012 Production of "Gotham City" and "Duets for My Valentine", as well as Miss Mongolia USA 2011.

Pavel choreographed "Dirty Dancing" and "Peep Show" for Petergof Theater/Restaurant and his show "Carnaval" at Victor hotel was described by NBC News Chicago as: "A modern day burlesque show that will make your jaw drop".

Currently, Pavel is performing with Pursuit  Productions in their show "Thirty Thousand One."


Heather Talken (Creative, Intro to Dance, Jazz, Tap)

Heather began dancing at DOROTHY'S DANCING UNLIMITED when she was only three years old. She trained in ballet, pointe, tap, modern, lyrical, and ballroom. While attending Schaumburg High School, she successfully directed three years of the Orchesis program and helped expand the program to include all forms of dance. Heather went on to become a dance major at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1997. After college she took a short break to focus on a career in commercial real estate. In 2010 she rejoined the Dorothy's family and is incredibly excited to be a part of the faculty here. Heather has a renewed passion for dance and cannot wait to share this with all of her students.
